Today I have Cat Patrick, author of Forgotten, Revived and The Originals on the blog to celebrate the release of The Originals. Cat has shared with Readaraptor her ideal movie cast for the book, which came out on May 6th by Electric Monkey.
It’s always fun to think about who might be cast in the movie version of my books, though truth be told, it’s a challenge to find real, live humans who look exactly like the people in my head. (Or yours…those tricky imaginations are so subjective.) Here’s a crack at who might fit for The Originals.
Lizzie, Ella, and Betsey, played by Georgie Henley
Because it’s about three clones living as one person in order to hide from the world, The Originals has a pretty demanding leading role: One person has to play three very different girls. I think Georgie Henley could do each of the clones justice, although she’d have to hide her British accent. Hmm…or maybe the producers could move the set to England and I would have to oversee shooting. YES!
Sean, played by Dominic Scott Kay
Sean’s the kind of cute that’s a slow burn: It sneaks up on you later. He’s got sharp angles, funky hair, and a super creative side. I don’t know him personally, but from what I’ve seen, Kay seems able to step into Sean’s cons.
Dave, played by Timothy McCartney
I found this newbie young actor on IMDB, and he looks very much like Ella’s clean cut crush, Dave. Maybe my fake movie will be his big screen acting debut. And how exciting for him that he gets to film in England!
Mom, played by Annabeth Gish
Mystic Pizza was one of my favorite movies when I was younger and I’ve loved this actress since then. I think she could play a great Mom, who is equal parts loving, overbearing, and a touch crazy.
Now, everyone cross fingers that the movie rights sell, and we’ll get this party started.
