No Books Allowed (#7)

Welcome to No Books Allowed. This is a new monthly feature hosted here, which is used to discuss things things in life which aren’t connected to books. This post can be used to talk about days out, music, TV, video games, films etc for all those book bloggers out there who do occasionally do stuff other than read and go to book events!

it would appear the cake is not a lie.
July, where the hell has the year gone?!
July started off great, I went into Manchester to meet up with some amazing friends, we had cake(see right), had a wander around the city and I marvelled at some incredible gadgets in a really cool shop mostly, then we went for a few drinks. The day was brilliant as I got to catch up with one of my best mates and get to know some newer mates better.

Unfortunately this left me a little poor and the rest of the month was VERY uneventful. I worked my butt off at my full time job and took on some freelance stuff, which is helping a little towards my savings account at least. The freelance stuff was meant to just be a small thing on the side but this week things have blown up crazily and I am struggling to do anything other than work!
A lot of the beginning of July was taken up watching Wimbledon. I have always loved watching this tournament and whilst I am gutted that my favourite player finished as a runner up, now I’ve had time to process I can say I am happy for Andy Murray. Watching Wimbledon always makes me feel a bit more active myself and after talks of playing Tennis with my partner we are planning on starting soon, but in the meantime I’ve taken up badminton with some friends from work. Once I got used to the rules again after not playing since school I had lots of fun and am looking forward to playing every week!

Hot weather
OK so I know you’ll be sick of people complaining about the heat. In all honesty I haven’t complained that much with the exception of a fair few “I’M MELTING!!!!!” cries. Seriously my office has been like a suana for weeks but the best thing about the hot weather is that its finally made me sort out my back yard. I’ve finally got rid of all the rubbish, power washed it, obtained some garden chairs and you can witness me and the boyfriend chilling out in the garden in my picture! I absolutely cannot wait to try out my new bbq and have friends round, just hoping that the hot weather continues to my birthday weekend in two weeks!
Movies and TV
I haven’t been watching much because of working lots and when I’m not doing that, catching up on those things I’m not meant to mention… However I finally watched Despicable Me 1 the other day and OMGOSH! ITS SOOOO FLUUUUFFFFFYYYYYY!!!!! I LOVED it, seriously I can’t get over how brilliant that movie was!
Also because it was San Diego Comic Con I’ve started feeling serious withdrawals from Game of Thrones and Walking Dead but I have to share the awesome trailer for Walking Dead Season 4 and this Game of Thrones 4D jigsaw puzzle and pop up book that I want so bad!

Another bad month for games… I need to get back into them but with so much else on I can’t seem to make time for them. I restarted the second Professor Layton game (Pandora’s Box) so that I could try and get it finished, mainly because I missed playing it and because I can pick it up for five minutes. I really recommend the games if you like puzzles and have access to a DS or 3DS, they are so much fun!
I am also addicted to Candy Crush and I feel disappointed in myself for that to be honest… thats why I’m trying to play Professor Layton more, so I can play a proper game too! haha

Thats about it this month. I hope you all had a great month and that August is brilliant for you too, with a wedding and my birthday I’m hoping I’ll have more to share with you next NBA! If you’ve taken part in the meme please do leave your links below. I’m so behind with visiting blogs but I will try and get to these straight away!
