No Books Allowed (#3)

Welcome to No Books Allowed. This is a new monthly feature hosted here, which is used to discuss things things in life which aren’t connected to books. This post can be used to talk about days out, music, TV, video games, films etc for all those book bloggers out there who do occasionally do stuff other than read and go to book events!
Please note that whilst I usually do this post on a Thursday blogger messed up my scheduling so it went up early! Sorry guys!

So March, this year is going so fast, don’t you think! Its meant to be the start of Spring in March HA! Its currently so cold in my house that I am wrapped up in a blanket hoping that the most recent bit of snow is gone from outside soon!
March is the month of a few personal events including my Sister’s Birthday and my Mother In Law’s birthday (on which she got me exceptionally drunk and nearly made me miss out on Meeting Maggie Stiefvater!) I have also been taking part in a photo challenge on Instagram which has been pretty cool and if you want to check our my profile on there visit it here
Days Out
I haven’t been far with the rain, wind and snow being mostly at fault. However for my sister, Kelly’s, birthday we decided to spend the weekend in London. Kelly’s older than me at 29 and her best friend lives in London so we met up with her and another friend there. It was a great weekend full of chatting about geeky stuff, visits to bookshops, the cinema, nice parts of London like Black Heath and The National History Museum.  We also visited M&M World which was crazy insane… I couldn’t get over how mad it was in there! 4 floors of M&M related products, M&M sweets and statues! It was so cool! We didn’t fit a lot in and spent a lot of money but I really enjoyed myself and think Kel did too!
Although its technically book related as I went to a signing, but I spent this Saturday just gone in Manchester catching up with the awesome Cait from The Cait Files and meeting Iffath from Painting With Words and her friend Alice. I love meeting new people and especially love catching up with older friends, it was a great afternoon spent in Waterstones Manchester Deansgate and Cafe Nero talking about all sorts of things including a lot of books and good looking actors!

TV & Films

Omgosh guys. Dexter season 7 is awesome, but com’on Deb! seriously! I’m not going to go into detail as I don’t want to spoil anything but I am loving the way the series is panning out so far. I am also loving The Walking Dead and am really dying to find out whats going to happen next, its making me want to read the comics so much more!
On our trip to London I went to see Hansel and Grettel, which I adored. Its to a similar vein to Van Helsing without as much cheese factor and we saw it in 3D which actually worked really well. I loved the way the actors worked so well with one another and the humour that was written into the script. It was a brilliant take on the fairy tale and it’s been left open for a second film if they want to make one, which I hope they do!
I also watched 50/50, in which Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays a guy who gets cancer and has a 50/50 chance of living. It was sad – I cried, it was funny – I laughed, but most of all it was really good. Seth Rogan played the only character he knows how to play tbh (a big loud guy who tells really bad jokes and laughs a lot) but I still enjoyed it a lot.
Iron Man 2 was also on the watch list, which was ok… it felt a bit like a filler from Iron Man to The Avengers but I did enjoy it. I am looking forward to the third movie more now though.
Video Games
I suck at finding time to play games. My guy bought Tomb Raider like two weeks ago and I HAVEN’T PLAYED IT YET! Its bugging me so much that its right there but I can’t find the time to play. I’ve seen him play it a little and it look so good. I’m really hoping that I get to play some this weekend with it being a bank holiday!
Not much else went on in March if I’m honest, I was saving my money up for London and next month I’m moving which is costing a lot so I haven’t done much but I’ll try and make April more exciting! Thanks for stopping by and feel free to write your own No Books Allowed and add your link in the comments below! 😀
