No Books Allowed (#10)

Welcome to No Books Allowed. This is a new monthly feature hosted here, which is used to discuss things things in life which aren’t connected to books. This post can be used to talk about days out, music, TV, video games, films etc for all those book bloggers out there who do occasionally do stuff other than read and go to book events!

Happy Halloween!
How crazy fast has this year gone? I can’t believe it will be November tomorrow and I feel like it was January just last week! Unfortunately I have very little to tell you this month, its been a quiet month in all honesty but I think I can find some stuff to talk about, maybe!
Days/nights out
So October seemed to be really busy but looking back over it there isn’t that much I can tell you! I went to see one of my favourite bands at the beginning of the month – again. Funeral For A Friend played in Manchester and vowed to play the eps from when they first got a record deal – ten years ago – in full. It was amazing to hear the stuff they don’t play so much anymore and those eps were met with songs mainly from their first album, Casually Dressed and Deep in Conversation (also out ten years ago which makes me feel old!) and their latest album, Conduit. It was an incredible gig and even though it must have been my 20th time at least seeing them I loved every minute.
Following on from that I went to a few Manchester Literature Festival events which you can read about if you look back to Tuesday’s post as I can’t go into them here – they were about books obviously! I also went to the PlayExpo in Manchester which after Eurogamer was such a let down but I enjoyed having a go on my first sonic game since the MegaDrive, and I even had a go on some retro stuff like Dreamcast, MegaDrive and a Gamegear!

TV, Films, Games and Music
The TV this month was all set to be really exciting. The Walking Dead started again and it is amazing! I love where its gone since the end of the last season. Dexter finished too but I really didn’t like where that finished and if you are planning on watching, pretend season 7 was the last one…. I wish I did! We are catching up with Fringe from where we left it about two years ago and I forgot how amazing that was too, the science behind it is mind-blowing!

Films have been a bit scarce because both me and T have been so busy but I did watch The Little Vampire which was so cheesy I had to love it and we’ve been watching this you tube channel with tea which I would definitely recommend. Vsauce is a channel that focuses on mind-blowing facts and the guy that does it is so cool, he obviously knows his stuff!
On the gaming front I have tried to get into more but haven’t had the time. I have to admit though that an entire weekend at the beginning of October was spent playing a 3DS game called SteamWorld Dig which was awesome. It is a mining game and in all honesty the story isn’t really all that impressive, but I was hooked, it was so addictive! I definitely recommend it if you enjoy puzzle-y type games cos you do sometimes have to work out how to get through the caves and stuff like that!

Other stuff
Like I said, not a lot happening this month other than being crazy busy. I have been doing loads of freelance stuff as well as my full time job so things a little work-orientated right now. You may have noticed the blog has been a little sparse this month and to be honest I think thats going to continue. I have today’s post and a review tomorrow scheduled then I run out! I can’t believe things have been so hectic!
Thank you for reading and I will try and be more exciting next month, I promise! haha If you joined in with No Books Allowed please try and leave your link in the comments so I can visit your post!
