They say that before you die your life flashes before you eyes.
You think it’s going to be the good stuff – every kiss, every party.
Don’t count on it.
I was Bridget Duke – the uncontested ruler of the school. If keeping the wannabes in their place meant being a mean girl, then so be it! I never thought there’d be a price to pay.
Until the accident.
Now, trapped between life and death, I’m seeing my world in a new light: through the eyes of five people whose existence I’ve made hell.
And I’ve got one chance to make things right. If I don’t, I may never wake up again…
This book, man…. This book. I read it in a day. Do you know how long ago I read a book in a day? A while ago! I completely ignored my child because Bridget; the ultimate mean girl sucked me into her life and her attention seeking ways and made me want to just keep reading.
Here Lies Bridget is a bit Mean Girls meets A Christmas Carol. Don’t get me wrong, its not set at Christmas. But the other bits of that story are hinted to. This time there are 5 people to see Bridget through the eyes of, and none of it is pretty.
Bridget is not a likeable character. I wanted to slap her multiple times. So she is just like Scrooge in that respect. She had some lovely people around her and things have happened to her, which you find out through the book, which makes it more understanable as to why she is the way she is. However, even at the end I didn’t like her. I just didn’t want her to be dead…
I don’t want to say too much because of spoilers. It’s obvious from the title, the cover and the blurb that the book is about Bridget and a half death experience. Other than that its about opening your eyes to other people and what they are going through. It’s about not being a self centred bitch, and being respectful towards others.
Here Lies Bridget is perfect for anyone like me who has seen Mean Girls a thousand times, or who bridge watched Pretty Little Liars in a matter of weeks. I devoured it and I think anyone who loves teen drama will too.
Here Lies Bridget was published back in 2011 by Mira Ink. My copy was purchased at a local Waterstones back in the day.
