***Whilst I have taken great care not to spoil any of the story in this review please take note that this is book 3.5 of the Fallen series so therefore will contain spoilers for the earlier books***
Unexpected. Unrequited. Forbidden. Eternal. Everyone has their own love story.
And in a twist of fate, four extraordinary love stories combine over the course of a romantic Valentine’s Day in Medieval England. Miles and Shelby find love where they
least expect it. Roland learns a painful lesson about finding-and losing love. Arianne pays the price for a love so fierce it burns. And for the first -and last- time, Daniel and Luce
will spend a night together like none other.
Lauren Kate’s FALLEN IN LOVE is filled with love stories . . . the ones everyone has been waiting for.
True love never says goodbye. . .
This will be a mini review, not because I didn’t enjoy the book but because I really don’t want to give too much away about the book and the characters within it.
Fallen in Love is four stories about the characters we know and love from the Fallen series. The first story is about Miles and Shelby, the second Roland, the third Arrianne and the fourth is about the first and last Valentines day that Daniel and Luce get to share.
The first story was so sweet, I kinda thought there would be something that developed between Miles and Shelby at the end of the second book, Torment, and when it didn’t happen in Passion I was so upset. I loved the progression within this story and how it linked it really well with the events of Passion. I thought the relationship between Miles and Shelby was really well put across and liked that it was kinda more from Shelby’s point of view.
The second story was Rolands and it was the sweetest story, it was sad but not too sad and you saw a side to Roland that you don’t get to see much of in the other books in the series.
The third, Arrianne’s was awful… in that it broke my heart to read. I had guessed parts of the story about Arrianne before I read this story and knowing about this part of Arrianne’s past helps the character from the other books come to live and helped me understand her better. I had always liked Arrianne as a character but I like her even more knowing what she’s been through.
Finanly was Luce and Daniels one and only Valentine ’s Day. It was sweet and I enjoyed the story but it wasn’t my favourite. You kinda get enough of the two of them in the other books and whilst I see the merit in the story I feel as though I gained more from the other stories in this collection.
I really loved what Lauren Kate has done with Fallen in Love, the way it slides in nicely as an additional depth for the characters within the series and hoe the collection fits in with the series and how the stories link well within the collection. I really liked that it was all set within the same time period and on the same day for each of the characters even though it’s some of their pasts and some of their presents.
Fallen in Love was published on Valentine’s Day in the UK by Doubleday. My copy was purchased from a local indie bookstore, Silverdell Books.
