Bookish and Bloggish News (#17)

Hello lovely follwers! I’m back, you miss me? I had some awesome guest posts this past week and I hope you really enjoyed them all! I’m back this week with reviews and a brilliant question and answer post from Karen Mahoney so don’t go running away from me! First of all though, some news and stuff for you!
Cover Reveal: The Pirate’s Wish by Cassandra Rose Clarke
This is soooo cool!! You might have seen my review for The Assassin’s Curse recently, which I really enjoyed and I can’t wait to read this one. The summary and fully finalised cover are yet to be released however the series will only contain the two books. The Pirate’s Wish will be published by Strange Chemistry in June 2013.

Cracked by Eliza Crewe signed by Strange Chemistry

The team at Strange Chemistry have signed up a brand new author! Eliza Crewe has been signed in a two book deal, the first, Cracked will be published in November 2013 and sounds awesome:
Meet Meda. She eats people.

Well, technically, she eats their soul. But she totally promises to only go for people who deserve it. She’s special. It’s not her fault she enjoys it. She can’t help being a bad guy. Besides, what else can she do? Her mother was killed and it’s not like there are any other “soul-eaters” around to show her how to be different. That is, until the three men in suits show up.

They can do what she can do. They’re like her. Meda might finally have a chance to figure out what she is. The problem? They kind of want to kill her. Before they get the chance Meda is rescued by crusaders, members of an elite group dedicated to wiping out Meda’s kind. This is her chance! Play along with the “good guys” and she’ll finally figure out what, exactly, her “kind” is.

Be careful what you wish for. Playing capture the flag with her mortal enemies, babysitting a teenage boy with a hero complex, and avoiding a bad-ass cripple that doesn’t trust her are bad enough. But the Hunger is gaining on her.

The more she learns, the worse it gets. And when Meda uncovers a shocking secret about her mother, her past, and her destiny… she may finally give into it.

Ruth Warburton news

This here is the amazing cover for the final book in the Winter trilogy from Ruth Warburton, it was announced a little while ago but I haven’t covered it yet. A Witch Alone will be published in February 2013. Warning summary will contain spoilers for the first two books:
Where do you go when your heart has been ripped out?

For Anna there is only one answer; into her past, where the truth about her mother, her power, and her real identity lie hidden.

But as Anna delves deeper into her history, she begins to fear that the truth about what set her mother running may be darker than she ever suspected. With the witches of the world on the brink of war, Seth gone, and her friend Abe wanting more from her than she can possibly give, Anna is in crisis.

As the clouds around her gather, Anna is torn between friends, family and rival tribes of witches and – at the last – between love and magic.
Also in more news about the wonderful Ruth Warburton, it was announced yesterday that we will be getting more from her! Hodder have acquired the rights to published two books, Witch Finder and Witch Hunt, set in 1880’s London. Readers of the Winter Trilogy will recognise some aspects of the story which will follow Luke Lexton, an 18 year old who is about to undergo his initiation into the Malleus Maleficorum. I cant wait to find even more, shame that the first book wont be released until 2014 though.

Forget me Never by Gina Blaxill trailer

This is the fantastic trailer for new book from Gina Blaxill, Forget me Never, which was published by MacMillan on September 27th. All I can say is I am SO glad I have this one on my TBR pile cos this trailer looks awesome.
Summary for Forget me Never:
When Sophie’s cousin Danielle dies after a fall from her balcony, the police dismiss her death as suicide. She had broken up with her boyfriend and had suffered from depression in the past. Sophie isn’t so sure, however, and when she finds a memory stick in a pair of Dani’s old jeans, some new photos and information come to light that point to something more sinister. Sophie and her friend Reece investigate further and soon find out that Dani was involved with something very dark and very dangerous. As Sophie and Reece become more and more deeply involved they put themselves in huge danger too, accessing secret data, facing kidnap attempts and worse. And as they uncover the terrible truth about what really happened to Dani, Sophie and Reece must also face their feelings for each other . . .
