I’m hoping for an exciting August. Today is my birthday and I am having a day off to celebrate, with hopes of an Ikea trip this evening (you know you’re getting old when the thought of going and buying a new bed on your birthday sounds fun!) I’m also seeing my friends and sister at the weekend and T has a new job to start later in the Month. I really am enjoying 2014 so far, its definitely one of the better ones! I hope everyone else is too!
Welcome to No Books Allowed. This is a new monthly feature hosted by me, used to discuss things things in life which aren’t connected to books. This post can be used to talk about days out, music, TV, video games, films etc for all those book bloggers out there who do occasionally do stuff other than read and go to book events! The feature is usually posted on the last Thursday of the month unless that coincides with a blog tour/other book event.
So I failed posting on the last Thursday of July because of an impromptu blog break. This kinda sums up what July was like for me. I have no idea where most of it went and with readings to reading, well it was almost non-existent. But we’re not here to talk about that..
We’re here to talk about life non-bookish and theres a fair bit of that going on at the minute. July saw my mum finally get out of hospital and move into a new house in the village I grew up in. After 10 weeks in hospital she was so glad to be out and I can already tell she’s much happier. I’ve since been up to see her (thought technically this was in August) and the house my mum and dad are living in looks lovely – I even had a go on a stairlift… I just had to, but It was scary! My Timmy dog isn’t liking the lovely British Summer he is being subjected to though, poor pooch!
In addition to all that I gained a nephew in July, though on T’s side. He is gorgeous and I want to steal him so, so much! Holding him and being around him and my other nephew is not doing anything for my broodiness!
The rest of July has been filled with lots of doing what doesn’t seem a lot. There was a trip to London but that was bookish related (and you can read about it here if you didn’t already!) and there has been a lot of Sopprannos and films in my life. We watched Seven, I had a rewatch of Despicable Me 2 and I even endured Brad Pitt for the first half of World War Z… I then had to go out so I missed what happens, may have to watch it again! I finally made a start on the second series of My Mad Fat Diary which is possibly even better than the first and I adore whats going on there. Liam is brilliant! I need to get that finished!
I’ve spent a lot of time in July with friends, getting together for The Fault in Our Stars which I really enjoyed but wasn’t anywhere near as good as the book! Chilling at a friends on a Saturday night which is something we should do more often then having a BBQ and hitting the town for an impromptu night out the following week which was ace. Me and T have been spending a fair bit of time together just enjoying life too, everyone should always make time for the people they love because its such a nice feeling.
