Letterbox Love (#85)

Letterbox Love is a weekly feature that is hosted by Lynsey at Narratively Speaking and is a way for us to share the books that come through our letterbox, galleys and e-books (through our electronic letterbox) and any other bookish goodies that we want to tell you about.
For Review:

As part of the ‘A Puffin Book’ launch the awesome guys at Puffin have supplied me with a favourite childhood classic for review. Stig of the Dump is about a kid who falls into a chalk pit and finds a friend in a cave, living in the dump. I can remember adoring it when I was little and watching the movie so I am looking forward to re-visiting it now!

My awesome boyfriend got me Picture Perfect this week, allowing me to carry on with Harriet’s story! I loved the first two Geek Girl books and this one, where Harriet goes stateside to model in New York, sounds really cool! Lets hope its as funny as the last!

The first book in the Daughter of Smoke and Bone series was incredible. So much so that I made my sister buy me matching copies of books one and two for christmas a couple of years ago… then promptly failed to read the second. I kept it there on my shelf, just waiting and waiting for the third and final book to come out. Thankfully the wait is now over and I am scheduling in a week or so during the summer to read them all one after the other. I daren’t actually look at what this is about for fear of spoilers!

I adore Morgan Matson and I was shocked when my awesome friend Keris handed this over to me in a bookshop this week, knowing that I would want it. I was shocked because I actually didn’t think it was out until August so would never have even looked for it. Thankfully I have it now and I can’t wait to read it! Since You’ve Been Gone sounds (not like the song it reminds me of!) like a book about friendship, and living life to the max, it sounds like the exact kind of book I expect from Morgan Matson and I’m hoping it delivers!

Gifted:

The following books were gifted to me from the lovely Katie at Storyteller’s Inc, thank you so much for vein so generous Katie, I’m sure I will love them!

I noticed this one around the twittersphere when it came out and have been meaning to get a copy from somewhere ever since. A middle Grade fantasy, its about books and Alice who is orphaned and sent to live with some strange relative with a massive, forbidden, library. It has a talking cat – which, yes, is the main reason I want to read it!

The title of this one captured my attention and as its a hot key book, who’s books I often adore, I thought I would give it a go. Its set in Finland and is about a girl who stumbles across something she isn’t meant to at her school. It sounds thriller/crime based and I am looking forward to finding out more!

I loved the first couple of Thirteen Treasures books and have been meaning to read the last one and Michelle’s other book, Unrest, for ages now. Then I heard she had a new book out, which is a prequel to the Treasures books, and I thought I better get a copy of that too! Thankfully I didn’t have to wait long and its made its way into my possession! YAY! A read of the whole ‘Treasures’ series is on the cards I think! 🙂

I keep hearing about this ‘incredible’ book and I keep thinking I must read it. Thankfully now I’ve got a copy of a book I know nothing about other than the fact people keep saying ‘you have to read it!’ Having read the blurb I can safely say its about hope and a boy, who happens to be called hope, and I can’t wait to find out what goes on with him!
