Letterbox Love (#42)

Welcome to Letterbox Love, this is a UK meme, hosted by the lovely Lynsey at Narratively Speaking and inspired by The Story Siren’s In My Mailbox. This post is a means by which to highlight the books we get in the post and beyond, and especially to bring attention to those books which may be sat on our shelves for a little while yet that we love all the same.

As I was away last week the following books are from the past two weeks. Thank you to the publishers who sent me books this fortnight.
For Review:

This was sent unsolicited from Bloomsbury. I’m definitely gunna give it a go as it comes recommended by a few of my favourite current authors including Zoe Marriott and Tanya Byrne. I’m not entirely sure what its about but the blurb (which can be read by clicking the link) sounds good!

This one was again sent from Bloomsbury, though this one was requested. I have loved Julia Green’s previous works and I’m hoping to love this one too!

You should have seen how much I squealed when I opened the package containing this book…. oh man. I have waited over TWO YEARS for this book, I don’t know how I’ve managed to not read it since it arrived on Tuesday but I know its top of my to be read pile. Check out my review for the first book in this series, Ultraviolet, here. Thank you to Orchard for sending this so my wait can come to an end!

This sounds really good and comes with the comparison to David Levithan and Aidan Chambers who I have read and loved. The author is Irelands Children’s Laureate and I can’t wait to give this one a read. Huge thanks to Hodder Children’s books for this one.

I have heard a lot about Silver Linings Playbook since it was made into a film and loved the sound of it so I jumped at the change to feature Matthew Quick on my blog a couple of weeks ago… Then I got asked if I would like to review his new YA novel and after reading the blurb I could hardly say now… I have a lot of questions just from the blurb and I am looking forward to working out exactly whats going on there! Thanks Headline!

This one sounds crazy and amazing all rolled into one. I love it when you can feel a characters personality ooze out from just a single quote and thats how I felt reading the blurb on the goodreads page of Friday Brown. Coming out in July by Hot Key this unfortunately has to wait a couple of weeks  for me to get my June books read but I can’t wait for it!

Another Hot Key book, Stray caught my eye from its cover; I will have to buy a finished copy when its out! The story sounds good but I am hoping that its even better than it sounds. Reviews have already appeared on goodreads suggesting this is the case though.

This sounded very 9-12 fantasy when I read about it on the email I got about it and I think the cover kinda gives it that feeling but it is actually YA fantasy I believe… I am still looking forward to it though and it has definitely promise. Huge thanks to Hot Key for these three books, their catalogue has been really exciting since they started up and I’m honoured to be on their blogger list.

Bought:

Only one book bought this time… I went to an event from Walker books a few weeks ago and whilst there saw a video from Katie Dicamillo about her new book Flora and Ulysses and I loved the sound of that and Katie herself. Then when I was in a shop last weekend I saw this one and have heard people say that the movie is brilliant so I thought I’d treat myself to it. I am planning on reading it next and then watching the movie at some point so I can do a kinda joint review maybe!
