Give the gift of reading with Scholastic

Looking for the perfect book for a loved one this Christmas? Why not give the gift of reading? It will open up a whole new world, or if your loved one always has their head in a book why not expand that universe even more, with the next book in the series? Or the latest from their favourite author?

I always, always make sure Spike gets at least one book even birthday and Christmas. There’s nothing like reading in our house and we both love the stories and adventures that we get to go on because of the piles of books strewn across the place! (Sometimes literally strewn!)

So when Scholastic told me about their Christmas Gift Guides and their Christmas Bookshop I knew I had to take a look! It sounded like heaven on a website – and trust me it is!

The Scholastic Christmas Bookshop is filled with magical goodies and split up into 0-7, 7-11 and 11+ books for all genders and reading abilities. There are some amazing board books, activity books, early reader novels and some YA series’ I would love to sink my teeth into!

What’s more, each age range is split into stocking fillers under £2.99, Christmas themed stories, Bestsellers, Activity books, on-screen character books and more! They have honestly thought of everything and made it as easy as possible to get to the perfect book for your little ones.

I had a good snoop around the 0-7 range looking at things for Spike that she would love and a fair few items popped up… Bing’s Busy Christmas Activity Book will go down a treat, and Highway Rat will be the perfect addition to our growing Julia Donaldson collection. There was so much there though I had to stop looking to stop myself from blitzing our entire Christmas budget on pressies for her! The stocking filler section is perfect if you have friends of your little ones, or you have nieces and nephews to buy for and there are some really well known, brilliant titles in there!

I skipped over the 7-11 section but I can see firm favourites like David Williams and Tom Gates in there, as you’d expect. As well as authors like Piers Torday who I love!

The 11+ section was like diving into my old love all over again. I learnt that Dash and Lily have a second book (I totally missed that last year!) and saw my old friend Wonder, which should be on everyones christmas list this year with the movie coming out soon! The Winter Magic collection is on the very top of my christmas list this year too, I love Abi Elphinstone and totally trust her to give me recommendations of short stories to read!

In addition to the great resources Scholastic are giving you as a consumer in terms of finding the best presents in the Christmas Gift Guide collections. They are also Giving the Gift of reading themselves with their book club initiative. For every order over £10 Scholastic give the 25% of the value back to the customers nominated school or nursery!

They are also running their #GiveABook campaign again this year. They have a Santa style sack of books worth £50 to give away to five schools or nurseries. All you have to do is join in their social media conversions and tell the them which is your favourite book to give to a child and why, while tagging @scholastic and using the hashtag #GiveABook by December 15th and they will pick five winners!
