Cover Reveal: Zenn Scarlett by Christian Schoon
Look at the pretty colours! I am rather excited about this as it’s a sic-fi YA that is set away from Earth! This is Zenn Scarlett, debut book from Christian Schoon and will hit the shelves, published by Strange Chemistry, in May 2013.
Zenn Scarlett is a bright and occasionally a-little-too-smart-for-her-own-good 17-year-old girl training hard to become an exoveterinarian. She specializes in the treatment of exotic alien life forms, mostly large and generally dangerous. Her novice year of training at the Ciscan Cloister Exovet Clinic on Mars was going well – until there are a series of inexplicable animal escapes from the school that Zenn finds herself blamed for. As if this isn’t enough to be dealing with, her father vanishes under strange circumstances, and Zenn is worried that she has started hearing the thoughts of the creatures around her…
With the help of Liam, a towner boy, and Hamish, an alien bug also training at the clinic, Zenn must try to find her father, rescue the animals and unravel the mystery of who is behind the attacks on the school. And all without failing her first year.

Movie News: Teri Terry’s Slated optioned by Prescience

Slated, which I read a few months ago and adored, has been optioned by The Kings Speech producer, Prescience. The news was shared by Teri on her blog last week and heres a quote:
“Prescience is one of Europe’s leading film funders and is responsible for 30 films in the last few years. These include multiple-Oscar-winner The King’s Speech, The Guard starring Brendan Gleeson, Harry Brown starring Sir Michael Caine and the forthcoming films Song for Marion with Vanessa Redgrave, Terence Stamp and Gemma Arterton, and sci-fi thriller Last Days On Mars.
Prescience’s CEO Tim Smith commented: “This is an incredibly exciting project with a very clearly defined target market. We hope to be in production in 2014 at the latest and we expect to attract the very highest calibre talent in front of and behind the cameras.”

I will be so excited if this does happen, lots of films get the rights sold and then nothing comes of it but I really, really hope this one does, Teri is a fantastic writer and anyone who hasn’t read Slated should definitely do so soon!

UK Acquisition: Tiger Lily by Jodi Lynn Anderson
This sounds amazing! I hadn’t heard about this until I got the email through telling me that the guys at Hatchette have bought the UK Rights from HarperTeen. Tiger Lily will be released later this year.
Before Peter Pan belonged to Wendy, he belonged to the girl with the crow feather in her hair. . . .

Fifteen-year-old Tiger Lily doesn’t believe in love stories or happy endings. Then she meets the alluring teenage Peter Pan in the forbidden woods of Neverland and immediately falls under his spell.

Peter is unlike anyone she’s ever known. Impetuous and brave, he both scares and enthralls her. As the leader of the Lost Boys, the most fearsome of Neverland’s inhabitants, Peter is an unthinkable match for Tiger Lily. Soon, she is risking everything—her family, her future—to be with him. When she is faced with marriage to a terrible man in her own tribe, she must choose between the life she’s always known and running away to an uncertain future with Peter.

With enemies threatening to tear them apart, the lovers seem doomed. But it’s the arrival of Wendy Darling, an English girl who’s everything Tiger Lily is not, that leads Tiger Lily to discover that the most dangerous enemies can live inside even the most loyal and loving heart.

Trailer: Curse of Kings by Alex Barclay
Very Atmospheric! I really like the look of this book, even though its a little different than what I am used to!
Fourteen-year-old Oland Born lives in a world tyrannised by dark magic. He knows little about his past or why the evil tyrant Vilius Ren keeps such a sharp eye on him. But when he receives a letter from a long-dead king which urges him to fight back, Oland must battle his own demons to undertake the greatest test of bravery and cunning a boy has ever faced. Curse of Kings is the first story in The Trials of Oland Born and is a thrilling fantasy adventure that will grip readers from the outset.
The story is set in a beautifully evoked and richly atmospheric fantasy world of medieval castles, Romanesque games arenas, supernatural forests, desert pits and harsh seas. Terrifying hybrid creatures and monsters abound – and Oland’s greatest ally is a girl called Delphi who has dark secrets of her own.

Random House have acquired a new series from Fallen author, Lauren Kate. The first in the series, Teardrop will be published in October 2013. The Teardrop jacket will be revealed on the Fallen Facebook page on Monday 11th February, however a sneak peak was released on Friday and I have included it below, along with the information about the book from the Random House press release.
